One of the most popular tourist attractions in Langkawi is the Cable Car and Sky Bridge at Machincang Mountain. I was a little worried taking two kids, ages 2 and 5, up there by myself, but we managed it and they had a wonderful time! It is beautiful and a fun way to see the jungle from above. They loved feeling the wind and pretending they were surfing in the sky!
While planning a Malaysia beach vacation with kids, I wanted to make sure I chose a destination with plenty of indoor activities. Langkawi was perfect because there was so much to do, even when my kids were recovering from illness or it was raining. One of the places I wish we had spent more time was Art in Paradise, the 3D Art Museum in Oriental Village.
When I was looking for family accommodation in Langkawi, I found a lot of options. I decided on Dayang Bay Serviced Apartments because they had a suite with a sea view for a similar price to a regular hotel room at other resorts. I am a light sleeper, and the ideal situation for me is to have the kids sleeping in a different room.
Location
Most of the resorts on Langkawi are in Kuah town or along the island’s west coast in the Cenang Beach area. Two five-star resorts are also north at Tanjung Rhu Beach. I chose Kuah town, even though it doesn’t have a beach, because the island is small and I knew I could get to all the main attractions within a 30-minute drive.
In 2016, I was so busy learning how to live that I spent very little time blogging!
2016 was less about travel and exploration and more about challenging myself and setting a course for the future. As my kids have gotten older, I’ve gotten relatively less sleep deprived and I’ve started to cherish their natural curiosity about the world. It’s been a reflective year, with lots of time spent with my journal. 2016 has had so many moments of joy, clarity, and success. Here are some of the highlights from my travels:
I’ve gotten several emails from readers about kid-friendly accommodation in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. This is certainly not an exclusive list, but here are some apartment buildings that offer pools and green space for kids to run around. I’ve either toured these properties as a potential tenant or seen them while visiting friends.
