1. Creative Nonfiction: Special Australia Issue and Essay Contest

Prize:

$6500 (AUD) for Best Essay, $2500 (AUD) for Best Essay by an Emerging Australian Writer

Non-fiction piece up to 4,000 words. From the CNF submission call:

We’re looking for a variety of perspectives—from locals, expats, tourists, or anyone else—and will consider essays of all forms and focuses as long as Australia’s landscape, people, and/or culture are prominently featured; the stories are true; and submissions are previously unpublished.

Essays must be vivid and dramatic. Writing should combine a strong and compelling narrative with a significant element of research or information, and reach for some universal or deeper meaning. We’re looking for well-written prose, rich with detail and a distinctive voice.

$20 reading fee or $25 for reading fee plus 4-issue CNF subscription. This contest is not specially for travel writers but for all forms of creative nonfiction. Multiple entries welcome.

2. Wanderlust & Lipstick: WanderWomen Write Contest

Prize:

One week trip for two to Secrets Huatulco Resort and Spa in Conejos Bay, Mexico, four category winners will receive a 22″ Briggs & Riley carry-on bag

800-2,500 words, must fit in one of four categories: Adventure, Off the Beaten Path, Food and Drink, Spiritual
